Life is Good (A Postcard, Maybe?)

Posted by Nancy on February 16, 2010

I did one like this for my 100 Photos project.  I think I’ll make postcards out of it, but first I have to redo it, I don’t like the powdered cream donut at the top.  I need to replace it with something more colorful.  (This might turn into my new form of scrapping.)  I did this one 10×8 and I think I’ll frame it for the kitchen at work.

Vinny Turns 16

The X-Box Controller Cake

Well as you can see, this is Vinny’s birthday cake for his 16th birthday.  Awesome work by my friend, Master Baker, Cake Boss, Gina Maranzini.  I’ve seen her work before, but only in pictures, when I got to her house to pick this up my jaw hit the floor.  It’s so much more incredible in person.  She did an amazing job (I told her to make me a small one, but of course she didn’t!).

Check out her beautiful work on her website Lick the Beaters

Thanks girl, the cake was a huge hit!

The color is a little off on the picture, I didn’t notice it until I looked at it from my work computer.  That’s because I refuse to use my flash.

I didn’t get to my Saturday Morning Memory story this week.  I did have one planned and even typed it out and saved it on my computer, but last week was one of the worst weeks I have had in a long time, nothing major, just a ton of running and feeling like nothing was getting done.  I needed a break.

Amy Gets the D90

Posted by Nancy on January 2, 2010

Amy’s new camera came in the mail the other day.   She got a Nikon D90, and bought a 50mm to go with it.  We got together in her kitchen last night to “play”.   It was great for me, because I’ve taken pictures of almost everything in my house, so it was nice to wonder around her house finding new treasures.

Merry Christmas

Posted by Nancy on December 26, 2009

I had a little extra time before everyone arrived on Christmas Eve, so I took the opportunity to take a few pictures around the house.  I hope you had a wonderful holiday!

Cookies to Nuts

Posted by Nancy on December 24, 2009

Walnut Butter Balls, Raspberry Nut Squares, Chocolate Fudge and Chocolate Crescents…my attempt at baking cookies.  Forget the chocolate chips, the thumbprints and the peanut butter cookies (all of Keith’s favorites).  No I had to go with Woman’s Day recipes (from a magazine that dates back to 2000, that I found under my bed).

Cheryl will be so proud.

They all came out okay, but the chocolate crescents.  A trip to the dentist for a broken tooth might be necessary after attempting to eat one.  Too bad I already gave them out before I decided to try them.  I don’t eat cookies.

I like cracking nuts.  (Thanks to Karen & Regina)

So I’m done work for the week.  My boss gave me a gift card to Camera Stop!  I’ve got my mind set on an 85mm lens.  That would work wonders for Bob & Gina’s wedding in June, but who knows what I’ll end up with when I get in there.  It’s like taking a 5 year old to a toy store.

Vinny is psyched this year for some reason.  I guess he found his flat screen tv in my closet.  He has a habit of doing that.  Last year he ransacked my bedroom closet leaving the presents lying all over the place and never put them back.  I guess I should be happy, burglary wouldn’t be a very good career choice for him.
