I was leaving work on Friday, and while I was waiting to turn left out of our parking lot, (which could very well take me 10 minutes sometimes) I noticed the colors from the traffic light at the corner and the cars travelling up and down the road. They were sparkling through my rain covered window. I got my camera out (because it’s always right next to me) sat there at the end of the driveway and fired off about 90 frames. I don’t know why I had to shoot 90, I’m sure 10 would have been sufficient, but I had the camera in continuous shoot and I wasn’t in a hurry to get home, so I just held the shutter button down. I thought it was a good choice for my 100 Photos project.

The Antique Shop
Posted by Nancy on February 23, 2010
Here’s some shots from my outing with Amy on Sunday. We went down to Main Street in town and walked through an antique store. The first shot is one of the cameras that was going for $45.00 that I talked about in my last post.
In other news, I ordered a bunch of stuff on ebay recently. I got body armour for the rebel, and a hoodeye, because my eye cup kept falling off. (I’ve have to replace it once, and that one kept falling off too. I like the hoodeye because it locks in place.) I got the vintage cameras and I also ordered a gorillapod. Everything comes in the mail but the gorillapod. Days go by and no package. So my husband comes home from work yesterday and seeing that there was, yet again, no box, he went online to track the shipment. He calls me at work and says… “I know why your tripod isn’t here yet.” I asked why. He said…
“BECAUSE YOU ORDERED IT FROM A STORE IN TEL AVIV!”
“You know….ISRAEL!
I cracked up. What do I know about ebay, it’s the first time I ever used it.

Vintage Kodak Brownies
Posted by Nancy on February 22, 2010
I got my first lot of vintage cameras in the mail the other day. Three Kodak Brownies. The first thing I did after taking them out of the box was look up their history.
The Kodak Six-20 Brownie Special - September 1938 to October 1942; The Kodak Brownie Bull’s-Eye - 1954 to 1960; and the Kodak Brownie Holiday 1953 to 1957.
None of them operate, of course. Keith just had to take them apart and see how they worked, I think he was more interested then I was. I cleaned them up as they were filthy, and I guess, I’ll find a place to put them on display somewhere in the house. I’m sure I’ll get some more. Amy and I were in an antique store this afternoon on Main Street in town, they had two very old folding cameras, really cool, but they wanted $45.00 a piece. That’s a little steep, you can get them cheaper online. My boss has a client that owns an antique store not far from our office. He came in the other day and told me he had an old Brownie that came with a wooden tripod, but I’m sure the price is high. The tripod would be cool though.
I think it’s funny how they seem to have personality. I guess that’s what makes them so intriguing.

More Snow, Project 365 and Happy New Year
Posted by Nancy on December 31, 2009
When I woke up this morning we had about a half an inch of snow on the ground, and it was still coming down. We got about an inch or so total. I waited for it to stop and then grabbed my camera along with a couple Christmas ornaments off of the tree, took a walk back in the woods and got the following shots.
I decided to do Project 365 again this year. Last year, I think I only made it through to March. However I want to give another try. It’s the only New Years resolution I’m making, that is, “pick one thing and finish it.”
If you’re interested in trying Project 365 at Flickr (a photo a day for one year), here’s the link…..
I was glad Liz decided to start a new group for 2010. I must say for the three months that I did the project last year, I gained an incredible amount of photography knowledge. This year, I cheated. I already have my first 6 days worth of photos completed. I figure if I get a head start, I might make it through 365 days, however if I make it somewhere in the 200’s, I’ll be happy.
It’s time for me to have a beer. Happy 2010!

More Mums
Posted by Nancy on October 8, 2009
Here’s one more of the mums, it’s all I’ve got for today. I was pretty happy with the way this came out, it kind of looks like a painting.

I’m Bored
Posted by Nancy on October 7, 2009

When I walked out my door yesterday to head to work, the sun was pouring on a garden in my front yard. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a few pictures. Actually, I’m bored to death with taking nature photos. It’s good practice, but I’d rather get out on the street and try something different. I think Amy and I are gonna have to get out the props this weekend and hit some of the back roads. I need something to spark my imagination. Though I like the way these pictures came out, I’d like to be a little more creative.
I got this the other day when Amy and I were out on Main Street. Though I thought it was stupid when I took it, there’s something about it that I like. I think it’s the colors in the background.

Main Street
Posted by Nancy on October 5, 2009

It was a good day with Amy on Main Street today. I’ve shot Main Street several times, but I was never really happy with anything. Today my eyes were searching for something different. It’s amazing what you can find when you look close to the ground. I especially love the way the colors came out in the antique store after I played with it in CS4. That’s something I’m trying to work on….bringing out more color in my photographs.
I’ve always wanted to get a cool fence shot, I’ve seen them seveal times on Flickr, so today I got two.

Main Street with Amy
Posted by Nancy on October 4, 2009

Amy and I finally got out today. This is her taking shots of leaves on some brick steps. We spent about an hour walking up and down Main Street. It was a gorgeous day and it felt good to get out and shoot. We both got a ton of good shots, now I need to work on them. It’s good to shoot with Amy. When were out together, I don’t feel so much like a fool lying on the concrete to get a shot.

Anxious
Posted by Nancy on October 1, 2009
I don’t photograph alot of landscapes, but the other day on my lunch hour, I was bored, so I walked around trying to find some interesting things around the yard. I’m anxious for the weekend to get here so I can get down to the park or maybe talk a walk down Main Street with my camera. I would love to get to Philly, but I don’t think I have the time this weekend.

This one is my favorite. A shot of some mums beginning to bloom in my yard.

This bokeh shot was cropped from a photo I took a while ago of some flowers out in my front yard. I like the green and blue color together. It would look pretty cool framed, but it’s kind of on the modern side. I don’t know where I would put it. Maybe I’ll frame it for my brother’s new media room. He’s in to that kind of thing.
