I don’t get much opportunity to shoot in natural light this time of year, since I’m working when the light is best. (Can’t wait for Spring.) I shoot a few pictures here and there at the office during the day, but I do have work to get done. This self portrait was taken on Friday morning before I left for work. I literally had about five minutes, and shooting wasn’t on my mind, but when I saw that light coming in from my bedroom window, I couldn’t help but get my camera out. Not having time to get anything ready, I took about 15 shots of myself in the mirror. The tones, the starburst and the grain were added using Picnik.

Today, (Saturday) I got my shopping done quickly so I would have some time to shoot in the afternoon light. I bought some flowers at Produce Junction, got quite a deal, two bunches for 3 bucks! I don’t know where my husband was, but there was some guy in my house vacuuming my floors and cleaning my bathroom, so I stayed in the kitchen, cut up my flowers and took some time to shoot. I wasn’t going anywhere near the bathroom.

Hopefully, the sun will be out again tomorrow, I should have plenty of time to play, now that I don’t have to clean the house. I’m hoping that guy will show up again and cook me dinner.

My boss, Mark, (the lawyer) believe it or not, had jury duty yesterday. Usually, we eat lunch together every day. There’s only the two of us in the office so why wouldn’t we? As he wasn’t in for lunch yesterday, I took some time to take a few shots. The lighting is beautiful throughout the office because we have so many windows. I especially like the lighting in the basement, which I call the “dungeon”. The office is a 120 year old house and believe me the basement looks like a dungeon, cob webs and everything! The second and fourth shots shown here were taken in the dungeon in front of a tiny window, and I really like the way the lighting turned out.

(Hey Boss, I promise, I didn’t damage your books! But I might have mixed them up when I put them back on the shelf.) You know I need to get my bench shot!
Last week when my boss came back from Court he found me standing on his brand new table in his office with my camera set up on the tripod. The things he puts up with! (By the way, that shot didn’t turn out.)
So that was my lunch hour at the office on Tuesday. It’s now Wednesday and we are snowed in. They’re expecting blizzard like conditions from noon to midnight. I don’t think I’ll make it out anywhere today, I guess I should catch up on my cleaning. I did get out and help shovel this morning, we got about 3 inches last night, the snow is wet and heavy. We’re going to have a hell of a time digging out tomorrow morning.

The first of my February self portraits.
I’m longing for Spring, it’s freezing cold here. The only good news is we’re supposed to get a foot of snow on Saturday. While my husband is dreading it, I’m looking forward to it. I do love the snow. I’m sure I’ll be “playing” in it with Amy. Lots of photo opportunity.
Happy Thursday.

Here’s one more of the mums, it’s all I’ve got for today. I was pretty happy with the way this came out, it kind of looks like a painting.

When I walked out my door yesterday to head to work, the sun was pouring on a garden in my front yard. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a few pictures. Actually, I’m bored to death with taking nature photos. It’s good practice, but I’d rather get out on the street and try something different. I think Amy and I are gonna have to get out the props this weekend and hit some of the back roads. I need something to spark my imagination. Though I like the way these pictures came out, I’d like to be a little more creative.
I got this the other day when Amy and I were out on Main Street. Though I thought it was stupid when I took it, there’s something about it that I like. I think it’s the colors in the background.

I don’t photograph alot of landscapes, but the other day on my lunch hour, I was bored, so I walked around trying to find some interesting things around the yard. I’m anxious for the weekend to get here so I can get down to the park or maybe talk a walk down Main Street with my camera. I would love to get to Philly, but I don’t think I have the time this weekend.

This one is my favorite. A shot of some mums beginning to bloom in my yard.

This bokeh shot was cropped from a photo I took a while ago of some flowers out in my front yard. I like the green and blue color together. It would look pretty cool framed, but it’s kind of on the modern side. I don’t know where I would put it. Maybe I’ll frame it for my brother’s new media room. He’s in to that kind of thing.
